Police Officer Recruit - $5,453

Police Officer (Basic Cert.) - $6,845 - $8,319

Police Officer (Inter. Cert.) - $7,186 - $9,275

Police Officer (Adv. Cert.) - $7,546 - $9,172

The City of Belmont is currently accepting applications for Police Officer. The purpose of this recruitment is to an establish an eligibility list for current and future vacancies.

Applicants must submit with their application materials the following:

Entry Level Applicants

Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with the following scores:

Written Test - T-Score of 48 or higher

Physical Agility - Score of 320 or higher and 1.5 mile run time of 14 minutes or less.

Current Academy Attendee

Applicants currently enrolled in a POST Basic Academy as a non-affiliate. A letter from the academy verifying your current enrollment is requred wiht application.

Academy Graduates

Possession of a California POST approved basic academy certificate issued within 3 years of the date of application. A copy of certificate is required with application.

California Government Code Requirements

To be a Peace Officer in California, at a minimum you must:

- Be at least 18 years of age - GC 1031(b)

- Be a US Citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied
for citizenship - GC 1031(a).

- Possess a high school diploma, GED certificate, or high school
equivalency certificate, or a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an
accredited or approved college/university - GC 1031 (e).

- Be free of any felony conviction and certain misdemeanor convictions - GC
1029, PC 29805, 18 USC 922 (d) (9).

- Be of good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation -
GC 1031(d).

- Be free of any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that might adversely
affect the exercise of the powers of a peace officer - GC 1031 (f)
