Are you an experienced communicator with great presentation and writing skills? Do you champion the brand of your organization well? Are you able to take complex ideas and communicate them in a simple and understandable way? If so, this is an opportunity for you.

The San Diego County Employees Retirement Association (SDCERA), an award-winning public pension plan administrator, is recruiting for a Retirement Communications Officer. A Retirement Communications Officer effectively communicates extremely detailed information regarding retirement benefits for San Diego County employees, former employees and retired members.

Our ideal candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent customer service and time management skills, and has the ability to learn and master complex concepts sufficiently to translate them into effective communication pieces. They must be able to coordinate events, develop curriculums, train effectively, and also be creative.

Duties include:

Serving as the primary presenter for seminars and workshops on retirement planning and benefits (pension and health insurance plans) throughout the County; managing various outreach, education or public information projects; developing and writing content for print and electronic media including newsletters, publications, fact sheets, and web; researching and writing responses to member inquiries; writing/editing booklets, fact sheets, and coordinating with outside vendors for print publications and financial education presentations; Graphic design and web maintenance experience is desirable.

1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in communications, journalism, English, business administration, human resources (benefits administration and staff development), or a closely related degree, AND,

2. At least two (2) years of full-time experience designing and authoring business communication plans and outreach/public information projects including newsletters, booklets, guides, websites, desktop publishing, training/education seminars, symposiums, mass mailings, and videos.

Note: Additional years of job related journey level experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
