The computer forensic examiner provides advice and analytical support to police and prosecutors. This role requires examining computers, cellular phones and other digital media, recovering evidence, writing reports, and testifying as an expert witness in criminal trials.


? Acquire mirror images of electronic media in a forensically-sound manner acceptable in a court of law

? Perform basic examination and investigations of computers, smart phones and other electronic media

? Document and report general findings

? Attend trainings both statewide and nationwide

? Work with Troopers, LEOs and prosecutors to obtain investigative information, assist in the preparation and execution of search warrants, and cases for court presentment

? Testify in state and federal courts as a witness



? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Information Security Systems, or related field preferred

? Strong understanding of Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems

? Experience with EnCase and FTK software applications and programs (Certification a plus)

? Willingness to pursue appropriate certifications (Ex. EnCE, ACE, CISSP, CCE, CFCE

? Willingness to work additional hours as necessary including some nights and weekends and accompany police/troopers to crime scenes to assist in the proper seizure of computers, networks, etc.
