Must be able to work holidays, weekends and off-hours shifts

84 hours - $ 8768.25; $ 9206.66; $ 9666.99 $ 10,150.34


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of a Police Lieutenant, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, deploys, trains, supervises, and reviews the work of police officers and civilian staff. The Sergeant performs a wide range of patrol and related duties in the prevention of crime, maintenance of public order, protection of life and property, and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. As part of the Management Team, the Sergeant assists in the preparation of collision investigations and criminal cases, provides courtroom testimony, serves in specialized organizational roles, and assists with various administrative functions.

TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 2-years of college or possession of an Associate of Arts degree and 3-years experience as a sworn peace officer. Additional experience as a sworn officer may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Must possess valid Intermediate and Advanced P.O.S.T. certificates and/or possess equivalent experience. Highly desirable qualifications may include a Supervisory Certificate from P.O.S.T., a Bachelor's degree, and completion of the Supervisor's Leadership Institute Course (SLI).

There is NO closing date as the application period will remain open until the position is filled. The hiring process will include but is not limited to; evaluation of the letter of interest and personal resume'; oral interview panel(s); and Chief of Police interview. Successful applicants must possess a valid California Class C drivers' license and successfully pass the P.O.S.T. medical, psychological, and personal background examinations.
