This position is funded from the Commonwealth's annual operating budget.
Duties:

The Campus Police Officer patrols assigned campus building and adjacent areas on foot to ensure the security of buildings and grounds at the Soldiers? Homes facility. Conducts surveillance of the property inside and out, searches for missing goods and persons; investigates complaints and reports of suspicious activity. Guards against trespass, theft, damage to property or injury to individuals by screening visitors; conducting inspection, mediate disputes; controlling crowds and providing personal protection to individuals as required.
Inspects buildings, parking lots, grounds fire lanes and emergency exits for compliance with safety standards to ensure campus security.
Investigates suspicious activities by interviewing witnesses, victims and others; preserves crime scenes and fire sites for examination by experts.
Enforces campus traffic and safety regulations by directing traffic; assisting operators of disables motor vehicles; assisting pedestrians in crossing streets.
Operates such equipment as two-way radios, Nextel, cell phones, PA Systems, emergency medical equipment, (AED) and computers.
Performs related duties such as cooperating and sharing information with other agencies; notifying designated personnel of emergencies; writing reports such as activity reports; maintaining records on lost and found items, assisting in the evacuation of residents in fire drills, administering first aid to injured persons; and raising and lowering flags.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Chief of Campus Police Chief.

Qualifications:

Minimum Entrance Requirements: None.

Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 22C, Section 60 (DPH) and Section 59 (DMH & DMR) of the Massachusetts General Laws.

Preferred Qualifications:

CPR and First Aide Certified
Ability to use Microsoft
