Attorney General Martha Coakley is looking for an exceptional and highly motivated individual to serve as a prosecutor in the Enterprise and Major Crimes Division (EMCD), part of the Office of the Attorney General?s Criminal Bureau. The Enterprise and Major Crimes Division targets criminal enterprises and organizations using sophisticated investigative techniques and strategies in order to develop high-impact prosecutions. The Division includes prosecutors and State Police assigned to the Attorney General?s Office who work closely with various federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities and agencies to target, investigate, and prosecute and disrupt criminal organizations in order to promote and ensure public safety in communities throughout the Commonwealth.

Primary Duties: This Assistant Attorney General will assume an existing caseload of substantive prosecutions and investigations, as well as the responsibility for developing and handling new assignments that include initial review and screening of allegations, formal grand jury investigations, and prosecutions up to and including trial. Assistant Attorneys General in the Division are charged with leading and coordinating the efforts of a prosecutorial team that typically includes investigators, state troopers, a victim-witness advocate, and support staff (including secretary, paralegal, and/or interns). Additional functions include conducting joint investigations with other federal, state, and local referral agencies, prosecutorial organizations, and/or law enforcement agencies.


Position Requirements: Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they are highly motivated to serve the public interest and have the ability and desire to handle multiple complex and challenging priority matters simultaneously. Applicants must be self-starters and be able to effectively work with outside agencies in the investigation of criminal enterprises. Applicant must have a minimum of five years of full-time legal experience, including significant investigative, grand jury, motion, and trial experience, and including practice before the Superior Court. Applicants must also possess background in reviewing and drafting search warrants, as well as working knowledge of forfeitures. Applicants must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively represent the Commonwealth and the Attorney General before federal and state courts, agencies, and the public.
