The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for Legal Support Manager. Legal Support Managers are second line supervisors responsible for supervising and evaluating the work of legal clerical staff in more than one functional unit. This position is assigned to the Sheriff's Civil Division and is responsible for managing the Sheriff's Court Services Bureau Civil Division. The incumbent will supervise five Legal Support Supervisors located in the four Sheriff's Department Civil Offices located in Chula Vista, El Cajon, San Diego and Vista Superior Courthouses. This position requires an extensive knowledge of the California Code of Procedure and requires an extensive background in civil process with an emphasis on the more complex civil processes such as complex levies on real and personal property. Education and/or Experience:

  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible legal clerical experience, including one (1) year of experience as a Legal Support Supervisor II with the County of San Diego; OR
  • Four (4) years of legal clerical or secretarial experience equivalent to a Legal Support Supervisor II in an outside agency or organization performing a variety of increasingly responsible and complex legal clerical work. Experience must have included second-line supervision of subordinate legal clerical staff assigning, monitoring and evaluating work; OR
  • An associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal or Administration of Justice, or a closely related field AND two (2) years of experience as a Legal Support Supervisor II within the County of San Diego or equivalent job classification with an outside agency or organization performing a variety of increasingly responsible and complex legal clerical work. Experience must have included second-line supervision of subordinate legal clerical staff assigning, monitoring and evaluating work.
