The County of San Diego invites Board Certified Child Psychiatrists to apply for the position of
Supervising Psychiatrist

The Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is seeking a full-time board certified Child Psychiatrist to serve as a Supervising Child Psychiatrist for Child, Youth and Families (CYF) and as deputy to the Clinical Director of the Behavioral Health Division of HHSA. The Supervising Psychiatrist will participate with the Clinical Director on the HHSA Clinical Leadership Team and will provide clinical oversight in a variety of CYF County operated programs. The HHSA Behavioral Health Division encompasses both mental health and alcohol and drug services, and has a budget of approximately $400M. Physician leadership is highly valued.

In additional to receiving competitive wages, malpractice insurance, a generous benefits package, including health insurance offsets, retirement plan with employer contributions, periodic compensation increases, tax deferral options, paid holidays, and vacation, etc., a Diplomate in Psychiatry may be compensated at an additional 10% and a Diplomate in a relevant sub-specialty may be compensated at an additional 5%.

Required Education and Experience:
  • A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California; AND,
  • A valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certificate; AND,
  • Three (3) years of post residency psychiatry experience at the level of Psychiatrist or higher with responsibility for conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing, and treating of patients under direct care/supervision and/or patients with mental and emotional disorders with at least one (1) year of experience must have included directly supervising staff Psychiatrists and/or other licensed medical or mental health professionals.
  • For positions that supervise units working with children, candidate must be a graduate of a fully accredited Child Psychiatry Fellowship.
