SUPERVISING NURSE


Supervising Nurses provide professional, specialized nursing care to adult patients in an acute or post-acute setting and serve as a second level supervisor, first level manager in the nursing series. As a Supervising Nurse, you will provide direction and leadership to nursing personnel in all shifts within a specific location in the facility to ensure an adequate standard of care. This position may act in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing. The current vacancy is located at Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility located at 655 Park Center Drive, Santee, CA 92071.

Required Education and Experience

  • A valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of California; AND,
  • Current CPR card is required at the time of appointment, which must be maintained throughout employment; AND,
  • A valid National Provider Identification Number (NPI) is required at the time of employment. Incumbents are required to maintain the NPI throughout employment in this class; AND,
  • Four (4) years of registered nursing experience, of which at least one (1) year of this experience must have been in a long term care, rehabilitation, geriatric and/or psychiatric nursing facility, AND, one (1) year of this experience must have been in nursing management.
  • Note: A bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for one (1) year of RN experience. A master's degree in nursing, public health, hospital administration, business administration or other related fields from an accredited U.S. college or university, or certified foreign studies equivalency may substitute for two (2) years of RN experience. Specialized training in nursing administration and supervision is highly desirable.

    Required Attachments
    In order for your education to be considered, you must attach a copy of your degree transcripts, diploma, and/or foreign equivalency certificate at Step 1 of your application. Required attachments submitted on or after February 29, 2008 do not need to be resubmitted. Please submit only the documents required.

    Ideal Candidate
    Have recent experience in a long term care setting and have experience supervising a large unit of nurses in various levels of nursing; have knowledge of standard of care and possess strong oral and written communication skills; have the ability to multi-task; and have knowledge of state and federal nursing requirements.

    Evaluation
    The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a twelve (12) month eligible list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained on their employment applications.
